The 2011 Frozen Four

March Madness has ended, the Final Four is over, everyone’s brackets have been destroyed and College basketball fans at-large have returned to being productive members of the work force (OK, most people aren’t that obsessive). There is however a handful of college sports fans that are still waiting for their final four. The NCAA D1 Men’s ice hockey championship, more commonly referred to as the Final Four, begins the final rounds tonight. Minnesota Duluth will face Notre Dame at 3:00 pm Mountain and Michigan will face North Dakota at 6:30 pm. The winners of those two games will play for the National Championship on Saturday night at 5:00 pm Mountain. Continue reading

NCAA Tournament Breakdown

We will obsess over our brackets for hours on end, tweaking and changing them until we think we have the unbeatable combination that will earn us office bragging rights for the entire year. We search for the unexpected upset that will shock the nation and lead us to victory.

Regis defeats George Washington in OT

Congratulations to Regis Jesuit High School, as they knocked off George Washington in overtime 67-63, to claim the 5A Colorado Boy’s High School Basketball State Championship, late Saturday night.  Senior point guard R.J. Demps scored a team high 22 points, and teammate Bud Thomas added 15, but it was senior guard Will Cobb’s free throws in OT that sealed the deal for the Regis Raiders.  Cobb’s 3 of 4 free throws (and his only points of the game) down the stretch was the difference, as Regis defeated GW.  The Regis victory capped the greatest finish to a high school basketball tournament in recent Colorado history.
